About the Baker
Hello! I’m Erica Villanueva, the baker behind the business. Currently, I run a one-woman show here at Desert Villa Bakery. This sweet establishment’s name is a personal testament to my love for this desert, the Coachella Valley. Baking was a hobby I started as a creative outlet for myself back in 2017. The entire design process is what really sparked my interest in cakes. During the pandemic, I was primarily at home with my kids and needed to pivot. I decided to see if this passion could grow into a successful business. For my birthday, in September of 2020, I launched my Desert Villa Bakery as a front porch pop-up. To my surprise, I was met with so much local support and continued to grow from there. I extended my love of creating into teaching and started hosting cookie classes. Even though I loved decorating cookies, experimenting with other baked goods and cupcakes, my true love and focus will always be cake design.
